Vision
To create a unified voice that will guide and influence people, institutions, and governments on how to best address the issues of climate change and sustainability.
The Climate Summit is a global consortium of concerned individuals and institutions addressing the dual issues of climate change and sustainability. We utilize common, innovative and advanced communication technologies to increase awareness and create a forum through which the global community can join together for discussion, deliberation and action.
There is a great need today to speed society’s recognition, understanding and action on the overarching problem of climate change. National and international diplomatic responses to the threat have failed to create meaningful, comprehensive agreements or solutions.
The Climate Summit fosters dialogue among communities most concerned with climate change to create effective action. We propose a non-governmental alternative, a global congress, with representation on local, regional, national and international levels based upon social media from Facebook to Twitter, and ongoing conversations with chat, voice and video conferencing as well as high-bandwidth TelePresence technology. These technologies substitute for physical travel and are an integral part of our vision as society adjusts to a low-carbon future.
The Climate Summit seeks to
- Foster local, national and regional conversations concerning effective responses to climate change
- Discuss, plan and implement strategies for shaping discourse and increasing awareness, and
- Help formulate an aggressive response to climate change from the non-governmental sectors of civil society, including the business community, religious and spiritual organizations, educational institutions, and the communications media.
We all must soon recognize that life is more important than wealth, and a healthy ecosystem more important than national advantage. A strong economy is wholly dependent upon a robust ecology, and not the other way around, and limitless growth on a finite planet is not possible.
Please join us in discussion, planning and action. please register to become a member of The Climate Summit, and contact us to join one of our organizing teams.
